56 Miles
~ 1800 Meters Ascent
Very Hilly
Quiet and Fairly Traffic Free Roads

(Clockwise Route Starting in Dunbar)

Start in Lovely Little Dunbar

Head East along Dunbar High Street until you come to a Right Turn Off 'Spott Road'....Take Right

Head Straight Ahead at Roundabout - And again Straight Ahead at next Roundabout on the A1 (Take Care when crossing as very busy) - Start Gentle Climbing until you reach the small town of Spott - You will see a Left Turn Off for 'Brunt' - Take Left

Steep climb is experienced:-

Continue on this Road with nice views opening up:-

You will then come to a Deep Ravine 'The Brunt' - Descend steeply (bad road surface here)

And then climb out a corresponding steep road out the otherside...

At top of small climb then ignore Left Turn off at top and continue Straight Ahead - You will descend to a T-Junction - Take Right - Now Prepare yourself for a very tough and steep climb 'The Elmscleugh Climb' - Probably the toughest climb in the Lammermuirs:-

It just goes on and on...

And the steepest part is left to the very end...

After the summit then continue along with lovely views all around (again the road surface aint the best)
You will then come to a steep climb entering a forest section...

Fairly soon you will come to a fork in the road - Take Right - Continue gentle climbing and then experience super long fast descent...

After the descent you will have to negotiate some badly surfaced road for around 3 miles before a T-Junction is met - Take Left onto B6355 - nice road now - very flat and rolling - continue on this for around 4 miles

At Junction keep Right on B6365 - continue until Junction with A6112 - Take Right - Continue for 2 or 3 miles until you enter 'Duns'

Straight through 'Duns' on A6112 until you see a Right Turn Off 'Longformacus' - Take Right

One of the toughest roads in Scotland this is - 3 very significant climbs back to back - Starting with the steep and unrelenting 'Hardens' Climb:-

After this then great long descents awaits....

You will then enter a tree-lined area before entering Longformacus...

'Longformacus'

Over bridge and through Longformacus (ignoring turn off to Left) - Now get your steady climbing legs on as a super long climb awaits - goes on absolute ages

Everytime you think your topping out another long drag awaits...

After an eternity you do actually top out and superb views are experienced all around - then it's onto another long descent

Next climb awaits at the foot of this descent - Steep start before a slight relent in the middle before steepening again near the top

At the top of here you are at the highest point of the ride 'Redstone Rig' and you will see a turn off to the Right 'Duns' - Take Right

Lovely descent and views of Whiteadder reservoir awaits...

At bottom of descent you will see a turn off to the Left - Take Left 'Garvald'

Continue on this fairly demanding rolling road all the way to Nunraw Abbey

'Nunraw Abbey'

After the Abbey then descend all the way into 'Garvald'

Take Right here - then ascend small steep climb and continue onto Junction with B6370

At T-Junction take Right onto B6370 - Continue on the rolling/flattish B6370 and head straight through 'Stenton'

The road now starts to descend slightly and great speed acheived along to the Roundabout - Take 2nd turn off for 'Dunbar'

Then onto a 2nd Roundabout before heading back along straight road back to Dunbar

Finished!
One of the toughest smaller runs in Scotland!
